Hair restoration for Ponte Vedra and Nocatee
Patients come to us from Ponte Vedra, Nocatee and the beaches. The hair questions from this part of the county have a pattern to them, and most of it comes down to living outdoors.
The first thing to separate
People who swim most weeks, play golf in the afternoon sun and spend weekends on the water arrive describing hair loss. A meaningful share of what they are describing is breakage, which is a different problem with a different answer.
Breakage is hair snapping along the shaft. The hair is still growing from the follicle, it is simply not surviving to length. Chlorine, salt water, sun and heat styling all contribute, and the result is shorter, coarser, frizzier hair at the ends and a ponytail that feels thinner than it used to.
Loss is hair not being produced, or being produced finer and shorter each cycle. It shows as a widening part, a visible scalp at the crown, or a receding temple. It does not respond to conditioner and it does not resolve by swimming less.
They feel the same in the mirror and they need opposite plans. Sorting one from the other is five minutes of examination and it saves months.
The scalp takes real damage here
A thinning scalp in Northeast Florida is exposed skin, and it is exposed on the highest part of the body, at the worst angle, all year. Sunburn on the scalp is common, uncomfortable and cumulative.
Scalp sun protection belongs in every hair plan on this coast: a hat for sustained outdoor time, and sunscreen or a dedicated scalp product along the part line for everything else. This matters for skin cancer risk first, which is the larger reason, and for the comfort of any treated scalp second.
Ultraviolet exposure also degrades hair itself, weakening the shaft and contributing to exactly the breakage described above. The same habit addresses both problems.
What travelling in gets you
One consultation, not a series of them
The first appointment covers history, examination, and the bloodwork decision. You leave with an opinion and a proposal rather than a booking for a second consultation.
Bloodwork ordered the same day where it is indicated
So that the work-up is not spread across three trips down the coast.
A plan with the schedule written out
If a course of treatment is proposed, you get the number of visits, the spacing and the cost at the start, so you can judge the travel against it.
Reviews at three and six months
Photographs from the same angles. The review is short, and it is where we decide whether to continue, change or stop.
Practicalities
The office is on R G Skinner Parkway in southside Jacksonville, with free parking and a step-free entrance. From Nocatee and Ponte Vedra it is a straightforward run up 9B and I-295.
Appointments run Monday to Thursday, 8:30 to 12 and 1 to 4, and Friday morning until 1. Call or text 904-454-4937, or book online. If you are travelling in, say so when you book and we will group what we can into a single visit.
